Chemical skin peels can be very effective at reducing the appearance of fine surface lines and wrinkles,
blemishes, pigment problems and acne scarring, they help to improve the appearance and texture of your skin.
They can help reduce the ageing effects of smoking and sun exposure, giving your skin
a more youthful, healthy glow.
A chemical skin peel works by removing old, dead skin cells at the surface of the skin to
promote new cell growth. Chemical peels can be used to treat a particular area
(such as lines around the eyes or mouth) or all over the face, arms, hands and neck.
There are three types of chemical skin peel: superficial chemical peel, medium chemical peel,
or deep chemical peel. For optimum results homecare
products can be recommended to prep your skin pre and post peel.
For best results depending on the condition of the skin you may be advised to prepare the skin
2 weeks prior to your chemical peel. The procedure only takes about 10 to 20 minutes.
During this time, you may experience anything from a mild tingling to a warming of the skin
as the peel is applied; the peel is then neutralized depending on which peel is used and
appropriate skin care and sun block is applied.
Following your treatment it is expected to look slightly pink/red, you will be able to resume
your day-to-day activities.
You will be able to return to your normal activities straight away. You should avoid sun exposure
and effective sun protection needs to be applied. Depending on the type of peel applied strength,
and the number of coats will depend on if you will have much flaking or peeling of the skin,
this will be discussed in your initial consultation.
For the best results, we recommend a course of four- six treatments, spaced out at weekly –
four-weekly intervals depending on the peel and condition of the skin. Some patients may
require more treatments as every treatment plan is different.
The Perfect Peel is a medium to deep peel depending if a booster is used and some clients may
only need one of these depending on the condition of the skin.
Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes that
can occur over time, reduction of collagen, or damage caused by free radicals
in the sun and the environment.
Skin peels are:
Exfoliating the dead skin (stratum corneum)
Increase luminosity
Smoothing and keeping pores open
Increase cell turnover
Evens out pigments
Improve elastic fibres
Increase dermal thickness
Plump, firm and reduce wrinkles
A chemical peel is a technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin. Facial skin is mostly treated but the body and scarring can be improved as well. Chemical peels are intended to remove the outermost layers of the skin. To accomplish this task, the chosen peel solution induces a controlled injury to the skin. Resulting wound healing processes begin to regenerate new tissues. The dead skin eventually peels off.The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
